Cancer survivors gathered together this month to celebrate life and beating the disease.
The Cayman Islands Cancer Society hosted the tea party at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.
The party, themed ‘A Celebration of Life’, gave cancer survivors a chance give thanks for the loving contributions of their families and caregivers.
The event was attended by more than 80 guests who filled the ballroom with a buzz as they mingled and chatted with old and new friends alike.
Survivors and their guests enjoyed afternoon tea while they sat back and relaxed to the soothing sounds of Bona Fide who treated the crowd to a delightful performance.
An open mic section brought to light the many talents, and showcased the strength and courage, of the survivors as they shared poems and heartfelt tributes. The afternoon ended on a high-note with some uplifting songs from survivor Sister Gloria Wilks.
This annual event organised by the Cayman Islands Cancer Society coincided with the international ‘National Cancer Survivor Day’ which was founded by the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation and is now observed worldwide on 6 June.
The Cancer Society is encouraging any survivors who missed the event to contact Emma at 949-7618 or [email protected] to ensure they receive invitations to future events.
