Netting their props

Netball already has its fair share of glitz.

From the annual opening parade that vividly showcases all of the local players to the championship games that attract all sections of the community, flair is everywhere in the sport.

Tonight netball adds another notch of panache with its annual awards ceremony.

The Cayman Islands Netball Association Closing Awards presentation takes place at the University College of the Cayman Islands at 7pm.

Teams are set to be awarded for their performance throughout the various competitions this year.

Among the notable prizes will be Netballer of the Year, Most Improved Team and Most Disciplined Team.

Some of the noteworthy teams slated to be on hand tonight are Storm Quik Cash A and Butler Properties All Stars. Storm won the senior women’s open league title by defeating Roma in the final. All Stars meanwhile won the Knockout Competition against Rising Stars.

A number of top performers this season could be up for awards. Among them is Storm offensive power Lavern Davis-Ebanks, All Stars stalwart Pauline Bodden and young starlet Lexie Solomon of Rising Stars.

The event is sure to draw dignitaries as well including local politician and CINA President Lucille Seymour.
