Beyond Basics medical spa first began in the physiotherapy section of Chrissie Tomlinson Hospital back in January 2007.
After moving the spa to its own location in Smith Road Plaza in December 2007, demand for its services boomed. Now, having outgrown its present location, a second spa will be opening to accommodate the spa’s clientele, and this location will find a home in the spa’s origins at Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital.
‘I had new staff and new services I wanted to offer, and so I decided to renovate the space we started Beyond Basics 1 in at Chrissie Tomlinson to accommodate these services,’ said owner Jacqui Smith.
Despite being house in a hospital environment, Ms Smith is adamant that the spa will retain its relaxing ambience, as the area has been renovated to create a ‘warm, spa environment and ambience.
‘The staff is fully qualified and so the services are reflective of the same expert, friendly staff as Beyond Basics 1,’ Ms Smith said.
However, Beyond Basics 2 will feature a range of different services than the first spa, offering unique services that the staff members at the second location have brought to the company. These services include electrolysis, total laser resurfacing, hydrafacials, medical and cosmetic tattooing (semi-permanent make-up), a few advanced treatments for sun damage, scars, warts, skin tags and laser tattoo removal along with a greater variety of body treatments.
‘We are still carrying all the pharmaceutical-grade skincare products, Obagi, SkinMedica and Image, as well as Jane Iredale skincare makeup and Juvederm and Botox on a daily basis,’ said Ms Smith.
Ms Smith believes that the demand for medical aesthetics has grown in Cayman in recent years.
‘The demand is there right now, and many people are leaving the country for these services so are happy to know that they can get them on island,’ said Ms Smith. ‘Their enhancements are kept in confidentiality as are all our medical treatments; that’s the advantage of the hospital setting.
‘People want a quick fix and can’t afford the $35,000 facelift but can afford the $500 Botox treatment or $1,500 laser resurfacing and be the change they want to see.’
The second location for the spa will celebrate an official opening on Thursday, 30 July from 5pm to 7pm. Twenty per cent discounts on all services and products booked or purchased on that evening will be available, and short educational talks will be given by visiting representatives from Obagi and Syneron (the laser company that Beyond Basics purchases from).
The grand opening will be held at the new spa’s location in Chrissie Tomlinson Hospital on Middle Road, and complimentary appetisers and champagne will be served.
