Squads battle for indoor crown

Indoor basketball is in its waning stages.

The first major final takes place this Sunday and features a pair of division one teams battling to be the best at indoor hoops.

On one side is the juggernaut Esso Blazers. Under the guidance of basketball luminary Shawn Pitterson, the Blazers have lit up the Arts and Recreation Center at Camana Bay.

The squad went undefeated throughout the eight game regular season and had the top scoring unit in all of indoor basketball (with 556 points scored).

Stalwarts Rotando Thompson and Perry Levy have steadied the side while new pieces like Samuel O’Garro and David Taylor have made a big impact on the team.

The biggest obstacle in their way of perfection is team Shaolin. Lead by local basketball legend Collin Anglin Shaolin has fought their way to the final.

They beat Mattysports.com (essentially the Silver Bullets) in the semi-finals last Sunday 55-53. Both teams ended the regular season with mediocre 3-5 records.

On Sunday guys like Christian Ferrer and Kenval Bryant hope to orchestrate more heroics and claim bragging rights.

At the same time the team hopes to soothe the burn Esso imparted with an 85-66 thumping last Tuesday.
