CAA hosts Caribbean meeting

Directors of Civil Aviation in region meet

Issues such as enhancing aviation security, air transport operations and the safety of air navigation services throughout the region were discussed recently on Grand Cayman.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands hosted the 10th meeting of the Directors of Civil Aviation of the Central Caribbean.

Held at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman from 18 to 21 August under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, the meeting held discussions on important aviation matters.

The Acting Leader of Government Business Juliana O’Connor-Connolly welcomed the delegates and highlighted the importance of aviation to the Cayman Islands and the region as it directly supports the tourism and financial industries.

The meeting was officially opened by Governor Stuart Jack, who acknowledged the importance of such meetings for the continued development of safe and secure aviation.

Participants included Directors of Civil Aviation and representatives from Aruba, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles, Turks & Caicos Islands and the USA.
