Dredging of the North Sound will have a major environmental impact if the dredging process is not properly controlled and monitored.
I believe that there are dredging methods that insure environmental protection. However, oversight should be an essential part of any dredging contract.
I have personally seen what happens to reefs when dredging is improperly done. They die. Sting Ray City, Sand Bar, and the northern reefs are far too valuable as tourist sites to be lost to improper dredging.
If the reef should be adversely affected, it will die and thus reduce a significant part of our tourist industry.
