Little leaguers recently got a financial boost when
Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited presented the Cayman Islands Little League Association with a sponsorship of $15,000.
The purpose of CILLA is to establish and conduct recreational baseball and softball programmes for the children of the Cayman Islands. Butterfield’s donation will assist the League in fulfilling their goals for the youth.
CILLA was founded in December 1989. J.C. Calhoun, a local resident and past President of the Cayman Softball Association, decided to put his organizational skills toward forming a youth league. He hoped to provide Cayman’s youth with the opportunity to take part in the popular sport and to establish the values of teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and fair play.
Butterfield has been an avid sponsor of the CI Little League for many years. ‘At Butterfield, we recognize the great value of supporting our youth and hope our contribution will assist the CILLA with achieving their goals. Sports education is an integral part of a young person’s development and we are pleased to support the Little League once again this year,’ said Butterfield’s Director and Head of Wealth Management Sheree Ebanks.
Sara Mackay, fundraiser for the CILLA, said: ‘The Cayman Islands Little League is a registered non-profit organization, and we depend on the generosity of corporations such as Butterfield to help us continue our programme and to make the fields available to children and adults for recreation. We sincerely appreciate Butterfield’s continued support to us and we look forward to partnering with them again.’
