CUC makes another splash

Cayman’s international reputation for quality open water swims gets another boost this weekend.

On Saturday the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association hosts its fourth sea swim of the year, with the 21st Annual CUC 800 Metre Sea Swim.

The swim is from the Governor’s House to Public Beach. Registration will take place in the Governor’s Beach parking lot from 3-3:45pm with the race starting at 4pm.

Both competitive and non-competitive swimmers will find the race an enjoyable excuse to enjoy a leisurely swim in the Caribbean’s finest waters.

Trophies will be awarded for the top three male and female finishers in all age categories. Regardless of finishing position, every swimmer gets a tee shirt, refreshments and pizza at the end of the race.

Participants in the sea swim will be required to wear distinctive CUC swim-caps, which will be provided upon registration, during the race. CUC has kindly donated gift bags which will be given to the swimmers after the event.

The race fees are: adults $10 for members, $15 for non-members; children under 18, $5 for members, $10 for non-members.

Some of this weekend’s swimmers got a chance to warm up on Saturday at the Cayman Airways Sprint meet at the Lions Aquatic Centre.
