A new arrival at Dolphin Discovery Park is creating quite a stir.
A female calf was born to Allegria just over three months ago.
The as yet unnamed calf is the first baby dolphin to be born in captivity in Cayman.
Officials say the park’s full time veterinarian and a representative with the Department of Agriculture were present for the birth and both mother and calf are said to be fine.
‘The dolphin calf is healthy and very playful, and visitors really enjoy the site of the newborn frolicking with her mother.’ Said Juan Franco Dolphin Discovery veterinarian.
Park officials say they are holding a Dolphin Discovery Baby Naming Contest open to all school children.
