Year Six John A. Cumber students recently visited the Ritz-Carlton’s pastry bakery. The trip, organised by school’s Primary Years Programme Co-ordinator, Mrs. Vaughan, was designed to give the students practical insights into mixtures and their usefulness to societies, part of the Matters Matter Unit. During their field trip, they met Chef Rolf, who told them about the different changes that occur in the baking process and helped them prepare their own pastry for baking shaped into a gingerbread boy. Chef Ben gave the students a tour of the other bakeries, kitchen and food preparation areas. The children were then given a baked ‘dough man’ to take away with them.
