World Stars led by Sam Suberan steamrolled their way into the semi-finals of the Clico Cayman Challenge Trophy tournament.
Before an appreciative crowd of spectators, Jalon Linton (59) blasted the India bowling, displaying a wide range of stroke play showing why he remains one of Cayman Islands most talented players.
India batting first scored 166 runs with good contributions from Arun (62) and Rakesh (31) and looked set to proceed to the next round but Linton aided by George Johnson (34) had other ideas. World Stars Neries David had outstanding figures taking 5 wickets for 33 runs.
In the other match Cayman Islands local derby dubbed the ‘Ashes’ saw old rivals Australia against the English and Irish Lions. In a never say die effort the Aussies dug deep and found the answers, defeating the English.
Semi-final teams are Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana and World Stars. The tournament continues on Sunday 6 December.
Meanwhile, the CICA Memorial Day is scheduled for Sunday at the Smith Road Oval beginning at 1pm. Members are requested to come out and be part of our celebration of life remembering our love ones who have departed.
