Calling all seniors in Cayman the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman and the Cayman Islands Tourism Association wants to give you a good time. All you need to do is sit back and enjoy a great lunch, lots of laughs and music.
Each year the Rotary club and CITA organize a Senior Citizen luncheon on 28December at the First Baptist Church Hall. Meliissa Wolfe from the Rotary club says “approximately 300 seniors attend our senior citizen luncheon each year and we want to reach as many as we can and get them to join in and have a great day.”
The luncheon is free and each senior also receives a gift bag, a food hamper and free international calls courtesy of LIME.
Senior citizens are in for a treat food wise with food supplied by restaurants from CITA The menu is varied enough to suit most palates. Among the choices will be delicious traditional Cayman beef, baked ham, mash potatoes, veggies, dessert and much, much more.
Melissa says the volunteers look forward to the luncheon as much as the seniors. “It’s lovely to watch them all having such a good time especially when they see friends who they might not have visited in a long time.
We also have a great time listening to their stories. A lot of them have had experiences in their lives which no one else has had they have a lot of wisdom to pass on.”
Music is provided by The North Kitchen Band and Melissa says that another highlight is “hearing the seniors tell their stories, read their poems or special passages.”
So senior citizens brush off your dancing shoes in preparation for the sound of the North Kitchen Band and get along to the Baptist Church Hall. Transport is provided. So get out there and enjoy.
Rotary Club and CITA Senior Citizen Luncheon is on Monday, December 28th, between 3pm – 6pm at the First Baptist Church Hall opposite the Lion’s Centre.
Buses will be leaving from various locations around the island.
