Celebrity Cruises announced the name of its latest ship on 21 December, the date of the winter solstice.
Celebrity Silhouette is the latest addition to the company’s fleet and it is currently under construction in Germany. Silhouette’s sister ships include Celebrity Solstice, which is now in service and visits Grand Cayman.
Silhouette is the fourth ship in the Solstice class fleet, weighs 122,000 tonnes and boasts such features as a half-acre Lawn Club complete with real grass.
There’s also a glass-blowing show and studio that was developed in conjunction with The Corning Museum of Glass.
Celebrity Silhouette can carry 2,850 cruise guests and comes into service in 2011.
