Tebow saves the best for farewell

(Fox Sports) – Up until last week most thought they had seen the best of Tim Tebow.

There was the epic speech he made in the national title game, the fearless runs for scores in big ballgames, the prediction of being undefeated after losing a regular season game and his comeback this year from a concussion.

Almost everyone thought those would be Tebow’s lasting memories as a Florida Gator quarterback. However the recent Sugar Bowl would put Tebow’s name higher in Florida football lore.

This time Tebow showed he could clutter a stats sheet with a jaw-dropping 482 yards through the air on a near faultless 31 for 35 clip as Florida decimated the Cincinnati Bearcats 51-24.

By the way those numbers exclude his presence on the ground as he had 14 runs for 51 yards and a score.

What makes this performance so special was Tebow did it in the face of so many distractions. Urban Meyer’s health, Florida’s failed bid at another national title game and the emotions around playing his final collegiate game could have all been too much for the young man.

Instead he rose up and delivered an epic farewell. Tebow flashed brilliance in and out of the pocket and finished his career as a special player and arguably the greatest college quarterback of all time.

He may not have won the Heisman trophy or finished the year as a national champion but Tebow played hard and had fun in arguably his biggest moment this year.
