Cayman Cookout and Taste will not clash in 2011

Culinary Month 2010 brought
together international talent and the best of the local restaurants with a
series of events.

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand
Cayman’s epicurean event, Cayman Cookout, was hosted by Eric
Ripert and was notable for gathering stars of the world from far and wide in a
series of food and wine demonstrations and interactive events. A series of
famous chefs including Anthony Bourdain came to Cayman for the event, which ran
from 14 to 18 January.

On Saturday, 17 January there was a
clash of events with the Taste of Cayman festival, taking place at Camana Bay
and featuring stalls from a large number of Grand Cayman’s
restaurants.

Dates moved

In 2011, the dates of the
respective food celebrations have been moved in order to avoid clashes and provide
the public with more of an opportunity to attend each event.

Cayman Cookout will take place
between 13 and 16 January, and Taste of Cayman is scheduled for Saturday, 29
January. Both events will be part of the second annual Culinary Month, which
may also include events at other venues on the Island
to coincide.

Speaking at the Cayman Islands
Tourism Association general marketing meeting, Executive Director Trina
Christian explained that ideally there would be core events planned for
Culinary Month as early as possible. This would enable the Department of
Tourism and CITA to work together to maximise publicity opportunities and a
consistency of presentation.
