Sips & Stones: A sparkling success

Diamonds are still a girl’s best
friend judging by the number of women and therefore men who flocked to the Sips
& Stones evening at The Ritz-Carlton last Friday evening.

The 24-carat party was a glitzy
affair staged by the Ritz-Carlton, which teamed up with platinum sponsors
Magnum Jewelers providing an avalanche of bling and gold sponsors Jacques Scott
providing the Möet et Chandon and Kettel One vodka.

Sips & Stones, showcasing fine
diamonds and classy beverages, was promoted by dms radio stations KISS 106.1FM
and X107. The Silver Palm Lounge and in Taikun were transformed into a trendy Buddha
bar with dramatic, jewel-toned lighting and chill-out music courtesy of
OneWorld Music.

Caren Thompson-Palacio was one of
the lucky listeners whose text earned her and her friend Debbie Mellaneo VIP
seating as well as The Ritz-Carlton treatment.

Dms settled competition winners at
the ruby (Kiss) and the sapphire (X107.1) tables. The winners no doubt felt
like royalty sipping on bottomless Moet and Ketel One on the rocks, while sampling
A grade sushi and nibbling platefuls of edamame courtesy of Taikun.

Definitely the place to see and be
seen last Friday, the gem studded party was attended by more than 300 people.

Models dripping in diamonds weaved
their way through the party posing to best effect to show off the true stars of
the evening: the megawatt jewellery.

To add yet more drama, attendees
accumulated raffle tickets with each drink they bought, to enter the prize draw
for a US$2,000 gift certificate from Magnum Jewelers.

According to
Nancy Harrison marketing coordinator at The Ritz-Carlton: “Sips & Stones
set the stage for Grand Cayman to get ‘glammed up’ and enjoy a Friday night out
with friends unlike any other.

“The event was
such a success that we are already planning some similar exciting events (with
a twist) for The Ritz-Carlton May/June events calendar,” she said.

Revellers danced the night away,
drinking and eating up a storm. When 12.30am came around, everyone gathered
dutifully in Taikun for the prize draw. The music ended and the tension mounted
before a dazed and soon to be bedazzled Chantelle Cooper was announced as the
winner of the $2,000 gift voucher.
