Outside furniture never looked better

Living in Cayman outdoor furniture is almost as important as indoor, whether you are entertaining around the pool eating outside or just plain relaxing you want furniture that is functional and also looks good.

The choice in outdoor furniture has never been so plentiful, from classic cane work to reclaimed wood recliners to sculptural cast aluminium.

In terms of what’s in, the buzz word in these environmental conscious days is   eco-chic. Eco-chic, roughly defined means mixing and matching styles and materials so instead of picking a uniform set; you choose individual pieces that give an eclectic feel.

In terms of colour, espresso has been popular in recent years but if you want a fresher alternative go for eggshell, bright white or taupe grey .If you spend a lot of time relaxing on your patio then you want something which is comfortable.  For the ultimate in comfort look for fully upholstered pieces that come in a multitude of different fabrics to suit most tastes. When buying fabric check that they are waterproof and fade bacteria-, mould- and mildew-resistant.

Some of the more innovative outdoor furniture is using leather, velvet, linen, chenille and silk look-alikes. Wood grains and animal prints are among other popular prints.

Cayman Home And Garden hold different samples of outdoor furniture within a broad price range. Their best seller is the Gardenella range and it easy to see why this range is popular. There is a timeless appeal in the classic sling shape. The frames are made of aluminium making them light and easily moved. The slings type seats come in all sorts of colours and the whole thing just needs soaped down occasionally.

You can also order furniture through them and the selection is wide and varied.

In the top of the range sets owner of Cayman Home And Garden Geoff Rutty, finds that the deep seat wicker sets are a favourite.

They are beautifully made look good here in the Caribbean and most importantly with the deep cushioning are very comfortable. The wicker collection comes in four colours from rustic white to expresso and you can choose from a selection of

coordinating fabrics.

If you like a more sculptural look the intricate   scroll work in cast aluminium  makes them a bit more than just another piece of furniture and works well against greenery.

For a traditional beach side look you can’t beat a painted wooden chair but if you don’t want to be constantly repainting it, you can now enjoy the look of wood but the low maintenance of aluminium.

In terms of tables look for practical points such as smart storage — tables that store leaves, a bench that houses cushions or a tile-topped console table with a scrolled metal base that cradles wine bottles..If your budget is limited consider a single piece of furniture — a comfy chair, a side table — to work in with what you already have. One practical addition might be an iron table with a removable aluminium top.  If you have cushions then you can swap them for something else or have them recovered.

Or finally consider accessories. Cushions, throws, rugs, lighting, drapery plant pots will all give your outdoor space a new look then sit back and enjoy.
