Drops of joy
Showered down
until
She wept
despair
Acidic
bitterness
An ocean
flourished with coral gardens
Our oversized
toy boats
Dredged their
clenching anchors in
Knocking to
and fro
The colour out
of life that beams there
Mangroves draw
the line
Between her
hurricane rants and us
Reckoning we
can withstand
Her moody
weather
So we erase
the line
Don’t like it
when she
Kicks our Lego
back to the blueprints
Seasoned trees
Cut and burned them
To the ground
Cementing our
empire in
Soon we won’t
be able to breathe
We’re blocking
ourselves in
Making our bed
with ignorance
In our
mother’s house
Taking advantage of her
Adding
unnecessary ingredients
To her- made-
with- love meals
Behaving
however we please
Treating our
Mother Earth
Coldly with
Disrespect
Her patience
is melting down
Brewing a
wrath that will scorch
Brand us
No mercy and
no forgiveness
Because soon
sorry won’t be enough
Oblivious to a
timeless lesson
We should have
learnt
Honour thy
mother.
