Platini backs England

Michel Platini has tipped England
to lift the World Cup this summer.

The France legend insists Fabio
Capello’s squad is just as strong as the favourites, Brazil and Spain and can
achieve victory in South Africa.

Platini, who is UEFA’s president,
has also rubbished France’s chances and labelled coach Raymond Domenech as
“hopeless”.

He said: “For me, there are
three teams who are at the top – Spain, England and Brazil. They have the best
teams, the best players and it is them who play the best.

“The France team are not among
the three best teams in the world.

“Simply put, I think France
have lost a great generation.

“There’s a Raymond problem. A
problem of personality, not as a coach. He was hopeless.”
