dms is committed to developing its staff

Business
conglomerate dms Organisation Ltd. outlined its continued commitment to staff
development by advising that it had conducted more than 50 training courses at
its Learning and Development Centre in the past year.

A
release from the company added that it had also implemented its one-year Future
Leaders programme at the location opened in early 2009.

The
programme was devised to cultivate the next generation of business leaders by
delivering a comprehensive leadership training experience for selected participants. Last
year six participants graduated from the course and 10 employees are enrolled this
year.

dms
Vice President Krista Pell said: “The importance of professional development cannot
be over-emphasised – continuing education not only demonstrates a commitment to
your profession; it has become essential to advancing in your career. At dms we
recognise that our people are the key to the success of our business – and as
such we seek to maximise our people’s potential.”

Staff
has access to a number of educational courses, certifications and programmes, using
the dms Professional Development Plan, which are mutually beneficial to
employees and employers. Employees are able to pursue continual education either
through dms-led courses, or through external development programmes or courses
of study, both locally and abroad.

The
company also hosts monthly “Lunch and Learns” at dms House, to further familiarise
employees on such topics as financial reporting, the basics of the hedge fund
sector and compliance.

Mrs.
Pell said: “Continuing education requires our employees taking the time to utilise
our offerings to their advantage – whether that be through courses offered internally
or external alternatives. With workplace conditions ever-changing, even
expertise that you required in recent years can quickly become obsolete.

“To
continue to provide relevant support, one must possess a dynamic array of
technical and interpersonal skills – and we seek to provide ongoing training
opportunities to facilitate this,” she added.

dms’
Learning and Development Centre, on Godfrey Nixon Way, offers a variety of
instructor-led and online course. Among the courses available are MS Outlook
2007, MS Powerpoint 2007, MS Word 2007, Software Essentials, Computer Fundamentals
and How to Make a Financial Plan.

The
centre also offers courses for outside groups and individuals and space at the
location is available for rent.
