Hurley’s ends Wednesdays promotion

Higher port fees cited as a ‘major factor’

Randy Merren of Hurley’s Group has
confirmed that Hurley’s supermarket will be ending its 10 percent off promotion on Wednesdays as of 26
May.

Mr. Merren said ever-growing
operational costs, arising from the overall increase in the cost of doing
business in Cayman were the reason the promotion is ending.

“The recent increase in port fees was
definitely a major contributor to our decision,” he said.

“When one cost goes up you have to make cuts
somewhere else.”

The promotion, which provided
customers with a 10 per cent storewide discount on Wednesdays, began after
Hurley’s opened their Grand Harbour store location.

“While we are disappointed that
this program must end, it lasted for more than eight years,” Mr. Merren said.

“Hurley’s is committed to providing
our loyal customers with additional ways to save through our Advantage Reward Card
Program, which was launched in January of this year,” he added.

“Hurley’s now has several thousand
active cards. Each time a customer makes a purchase they earn points that can
be redeemed for gifts. And, we will soon be launching our new ‘Eat for $8!’
meal deal and continue offering our weekly flyer, which highlights over 100+
sale items.”
