Puppy email scam warning

Officers from the RCIPS Financial
Crime Unit are once again warning the public not to give out bank information
via e-mail, after a scam relating to payment for the shipment of puppies began
circulating on the islands.

The e-mail claims to be from a man
who states that he wants to give away two Maltese pups. The man asks for money
to be sent to Africa to cover the shipment.

The unsolicited e-mail asks the
recipient for his/ her bank details – and officers from the Unit are urging people
not give out those details.

If people have concerns about any
e-mail communication which asks for personal and banking details they should
contact the Financial Crime Unit on 949-8797.

  1. It’s a shame some people are SO stupid, that police actually have to warn them about obvious scams like this.

For those same people, here’s some other suggestions. Look both ways before you cross the street, and brush your teeth after every meal……
