Caribbean investment summit set for 2011

The
2011 Caribbean Hotel and Resort Investment Summit will be held in Miami from
10-12 April to address key topics facing the region’s hotel investment community.

More
than 300 hotel industry leaders from over 26 countries, including hotel
developers, representatives of government and other sectors, attended the inaugural
conference in Miami in February 2010.

Ease of travel

The
conference will be held at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in downtown Miami
immediately preceding the new Hotel Opportunities Latin America conference at
the same venue from 12-14 April, said Jim Burba, president of organisers Burba
Hotel Network.

“Over
the past two years, investment in the Caribbean has been impacted similarly to
the rest of the world, but the committee identified both the challenges and the
opportunities, which are expected to be there as we enter 2011.

“A
timely, cutting-edge conference programme will be developed.”

Miami
was chosen for the venue because it is a large travel hub in the Caribbean,
added organisers.

Puerto Rico

The
Puerto Rico Convention Centre in San Juan will hold a comprehensive trade event
for the hospitality and gaming industry of the Caribbean from 6-8 October.

Hundreds of suppliers
will present the latest in new equipment and technology, showcasing products
and conducting meetings. There will also be seminars on topics including
government affairs, food and beverage security, gaming and social media.
