Professional Development: Training

Businesses must continually change their work practices and infrastructure to stay competitive in a global market. This is just as true for smaller businesses in a local market. Technology, previously the main driver of competitive advantage, is these days matched by the desire for a better service oriented customer/client experience.

Nothing can replace an educated, resourceful and customer focused employee. It is staff development that will provide successful businesses with long-term sustainable success.

Training staff to manage the implementation of business strategies, improvements to procedures and customer service policies can also act as a benchmark for future recruitment and quality assurance practices. As well as impacting on business profit margins, training can improve staff morale and satisfaction, inter-staff communication and leadership, time management, and customer satisfaction.

The Chamber of Commerce Professional Development & Training Centre has trained hundreds of people so far this year, thanks to the more than 50 different courses that have been offered since January. But if you’re not one of the lucky people who have benefited from this educational opportunity, don’t worry, as there are many more courses scheduled before the end of the year.

Education and workforce development has always been a key focus of the Chamber of Commerce, and in today’s flat-line economy where people are losing jobs through down-sizing and closures, it is important to make yourself the most desirable employee possible. And it stands to reason that the most desirable employee is an educated employee.

Professional development training opportunities also assist companies looking to restructure and be more innovative in their business planning initiatives. This can often be achieved by the development of management and other key skills within existing staff members.

The Chamber has been providing high quality and affordable training programmes, workshops, and seminars since 1995. Courses specialise in customer service, business essentials, business basics, finance and supervision and management, always keeping in mind the need for powerful, practical and cost efficient training to make the most of our members’ valuable time and training dollar. We offer qualified local and international facilitators that take great care in providing attendees with the most up-to-date and relevant  information in their field.

By offering your managers or employees professional development and training it shows an expression of trust and confidence. You are telling them indirectly that they are valued and you believe they have a future with your company. When employees feel like they are an integral part of a company, their morale will be boosted and in return they will feel invested in your company’s success. Many training courses and seminars are structured to be motivational, which can also be a key to boosting morale. The more educated the managers and employees of a company, regarding modern business practices, the more effectively they will perform. Ultimately, this will lead to a higher retention rate and a happier, more productive work environment.

All training courses

Are held at the Chamber of Commerce
