Breakers’ cheap runs

Breakers Speedway is re-introducing
$5 runs this summer. After months on hiatus, track owner Robert Campbell states
locals can go back to getting cheap thrills on the weekends. The next one is on
7 August.

“I want to open up the track back
to locals. Every other Saturday night from 6-9pm drivers can race their bikes,
cars, whatever for just $5. I started the program back last weekend and I’ll
keep it going.

“For me it’s not the money because
$5 will not cover expenses. I’m just doing this for the good of the sport. It’s
the best $5 deal out now in my opinion as you can get time slips and all that
with them.

“Cayman has so much racing talent
and the young people need the opportunities to compete.”

Essentially for CI$5 any person
with a valid driver’s license can take any car, truck or bike onto the track to
make as many passes down the 1/8 mile straight as desired.

Last November Campbell introduced
the inexpensive races. Spectators got in for free and a significant crowd
turned out to the meets.

The $5 runs have not been held
since roughly April of this year.
