BK grills Doghouse

The latest round of games in the
male division of the adult flag football league saw a major upset.

Burger King Panthers played their
best game of the year last Saturday and earned a hard fought overtime victory
over the Doghouse Bulldogs. The Panthers played hard on both sides of the ball
all day and were rewarded with the 18-12 win. Ryan Smith returned to the lineup
for Burger King and had a great two way game. Smith caught two touchdown passes
and had a couple of tackles for his defence. Ranfor Welcome made a great catch
for the winning score in overtime. Neil Clements was six of 12 passing with two
touchdown passes. Brandon Malice had three tackles for Burger King who are improve
to 2-3 on the year.

Doghouse were sluggish coming off
of the bye week and Burger King took full advantage. Johnny Mack had a
relatively off day going 10 of 23 passing with two touchdown passes. Jason Moir
and David Vaelz each caught touchdown passes for the Bulldogs while Jon Pump
had four receptions. Joe Ferruzzi played tough on defense with four tackles.
Doghouse drop to 2-3 on the year and take on Maples tomorrow while Burger King
play winless PWC.

Spin 94.9 FM Hellcats stayed
perfect on the year with a 33-0 pasting of PWC. Frecko Ebanks was 11 of 21 passing
with three touchdowns. Clay Coleman caught two of the touchdown passes while
Darrell “50 “ Porter had the other. Oliver Parker rushed for  a score and Rensford Barnes returned an
interception for a touchdown to round out the scoring parade. Craig Frederick
led the defense with a grand slam of plays, a tackle, interception, sack and
safety. Hellcats take on Calabash in the game of the week tomorrow.

PWC showed some improvement on
offense but still could not find a scoring touch on the day. Barry Hunte played
a suberb two way game for PWC catching three passes, recording four tackles
along with an interception. Daniel Hiryok completed only six of 19 passes with
four interceptions. Antonio Hanna also stepped in at QB completing two passes
and tossing an interception. PWC drop to 0-5 on the year and get Burger King
next.

In the most hotly contested game of
the day Calabash Soldiers beat Maples Packers 30-12. Glenn ‘Duran’ Duran threw
four touchdown passes while going nine of 17 passing. Leslie Harvey caught
three of the touchdown tosses while Peter Whittaker had the other. Will Peguero
ran back an interception for a touchdown to round out the Calabash scoring.

Harvey played strong on the
defensive side of the ball recording three tackles and an interception as
Calabash secured sole possession of second place. Calabash take on Spin 94.9
Hellcats next in a clash of top teams.

For Maples, who drop in to a three
way tie for third with Doghouse and Burger King, Kevin Solomon led the way with
two touchdown tosses completing 10 of 22 passes. Rupert Whittaker and Michael
Wilson each had touchdown catches for Maples while Whittaker had two tackles
for the defense and Wilson had three. Maples take on Doghouse next.
