Coyote Ugly: A howling good time

Christina Ravdas, who works at
Margaritaville, won the grand prize at last weekend’s Coyote Ugly dance contest
at the Lone Star Bar & Grill.

She will enjoy a trip of her choice
to either Miami or Tampa, Florida, with airfare for two, courtesy of Tortuga
Rum Co. and Jaegermeister.

Participants and party-goers picked
up on the theme and wore cowgirl-inspired outfits, and 15 dancers took to the
bar for the contest, much to the delight of the crowd. When it came down to six
finalists, the contestants really had become creative in their techniques in an
effort to win. Along the way, they chose their own favourite music and interacted
with the crowd by pouring some shots for a few lucky patrons.

Ron Bowen, one of the judges, said,
“The energy of the evening was palpable. It was certainly entertaining, to say
the least! The talent was impressive and it was hard to decipher a winner, but
Christina Ravdas certainly deserved it.”

The fourth annual event is a
take-off of the film Coyote Ugly, directed by Jerry Bruckheimer, and this year
drew such a large crowd that the overflow had to be accommodated in an
additional patio area, with TV monitors set up in the front and back patio so
everyone could comfortably enjoy the show.
