Diamonds and caviar deliver lavish, luxury spa experience

There’s nothing quite like being
pampered on a Saturday morning, especially if that pampering involves diamonds
and caviar.

No, I was not suddenly being wooed
by a rich suitor with more money than sense, nor had I become a demanding diva
with expensive tastes. I was partaking in one of the Ritz-Carlton’s Silver Rain
spa’s luxurious body treatments.

The aptly named Diamond Perfection body
treatment – apt because it really does use diamond micro-crystals and partly
because it’s hard to imagine a more perfect massage – is a fine way to start
any morning. In fact, it’s pretty much ideal at any time of the day.

During this treatment, you get
polished, massaged and moisturised from your head to your toes.

Clients expect the best at the
Ritz-Carlton and this treatment, and the spa in general, certainly delivers.

From the moment you arrive at
Silver Rain La Prairie Spa, staff treat you like a queen (or king, as plenty of
men are regular visitors to this spa). You are escorted from the reception area
to the Sanctuary where you change into a robe and slippers.

It’s advisable to arrive a half
hour or so before your treatment is due to begin so you can relax in the large
Jacuzzi, or try out the sauna or steam room beforehand.

My therapist, Ferdane Cecelija,
suggested that I should not go in the water or use the jacuzzi for a couple of
hours after my treatment as it involves a microdermabrasion and my skin might
be somewhat sensitive for a little while afterward.

She used La Prairie’s Cellular
Microdermabrasion cream on my skin, from my feet to the top of my chest. This
cream has micro-crystals of diamonds, fresh water pearls and quartz crystal
which exfoliate and polish the skin.

After the micro-crystal treatment,
I was invited to shower the cream off in what has got to be one of the best
showers ever invented. Powerful jets are situated at a variety of levels,
ensuring you get a cleansing and invigorating shower.

Then, it’s back onto the massage
table for the next part of the treatment.

The lavish finale involves Skin
Caviar Luxe Body Cream being applied on your body, accompanied by a massage
that somehow manages to be both soothing and enlivening.

The rich cream left my skin feeling
incredibly hydrated and moisturised and apparently also has properties that
firm the skin and improves its elasticity and tone.

The cream is enriched with caviar
extract, which delivers protein to your skin. That explained why therapist
Ferdane asked if I was allergic to fish before the treatment began. And don’t
worry, the cream smells lovely – nothing like fish or caviar.

I don’t know if it was because of
the crystals in the microdermabrasion cream or the Caviar Luxe cream, but my
skin positively glowed and literally sparkled after the treatment – not to such
an extent that I might be mistaken for a Twilight vampire, but enough to know
my skin had been treated to something really special.

After treatments, clients are shown
to the Silver Haven, where they can relax and unwind even more, if that’s
possible, and enjoy a variety of delicious teas, water, snacks and other
refreshments. It’s a good idea to take a little time out here before returning
to reality.

Throughout August, Silver Rain is
offering specials for Cayman Islands residents which include a free full-sized
La Prairie product used during a treatment with any 90-minute facial or body
treatment. Also, any purchase of a product from the La Prairie Caviar and/or Platinum
skin-perfecting collections comes with a complimentary Caviar or Platinum
Travel Collection Gift Set.

The Diamond Perfection body
treatment lasts 90 minutes and costs CI$285. The Silver Rain Spa is open from
10am to 7pm (summer hours) daily.
