No one left snippy or cut up rough
following an appointment at Sunday’s Cut-A-Thon at Eclipze Hair Design and Day
Spa in Camana Bay.
Dozens flocked to the event a
fundraiser for local breast cancer awareness initiatives. The event, in its
10th year, always attracts Grand Cayman’s top stylists and massage therapists
who donate their time and their talents for free and last weekend was no
exception. The mood at the Market Street hair salon and day spa was celebratory
with volunteers doling out free soft drinks, champagne, wine and water to
clients who had booked an appointment for a worthy cause.
The event, which this year included
a yoga session in Gardenia Court sponsored by Body Works managed to raise
$3,200 double last year’s figure. All in all the event brought together 45
volunteers from Focus, Artista, LaMer, Spa Esprit, Renaissance, The Lion’s Den,
DeBleu, Body works & Eclipze Hair Design & Day Spa. One customer, Stan
Trahan, came to have the dreadlocks cut that he’d spent three years growing.
Volunteers managed to raise $900 and he got his hair shorn into a buzz cut much
to the crowd’s delight.
