The Belford Community Christmas Family Fun Day just keeps getting bigger and better.
A helicopter ride, rides on a fire truck, in a police car along with a dunking drum, hot dogs, hamburgers, jerk, snow cones and cotton candy were only part of the activities enjoyed by those celebrating the holiday Monday.
The fun day, initiated in 2008 by the Belford Emergency Response Team, provides for children and parents to enjoy a day of community fellowship on the streets.
The day is always remembered by parents and children as well as passing motorist to see a helicopter pilot skilfully perform landing manoeuvres on the street and ecstatic children hopping aboard for a five-minute ride.
Response Team Liaison Officer Millicent Webster said the event is always a success. Because of the response, Ms Webster said the team is looking forward to hosting the event again next year. The main concern, she said, is getting sponsorship to assist with the venture, which gives so many children a happy time during Christmas.
Ms Webster said the volunteer team acknowledges the many persons and businesses that contributed to the event.
