The Red Cross is the world’s largest humanitarian and voluntary service organisation with over 90 million volunteers in 186 countries.
Voluntary Service, the fourth of the Seven Fundamental Principles that guide the work of the organisation in all countries, is one of the main components that sets the movement apart from other organisations.
“There are only five staff members and over 200 volunteers at the CI Red Cross,” explains Director Jondo Obi. “Of those 200 about 75 are extremely active, meaning that they are volunteering on a weekly to bi-weekly basis.”
Over the course of the past four years the CI Red Cross has lost a tremendous number of key, highly trained and committed volunteers to the rollover policy.
The work of the Red Cross, either in Cayman or abroad, could not be done without the skills, commitment, dedication, and selflessness of its volunteers. As an organisation that is open to all people, the Cayman Islands Red Cross is always in need of, and thankful for, persons who give of their time and themselves to better the community.
Volunteers from all walks of life and with a range skills are what makes this organisation so diverse, relevant and consistent. To learn more about volunteering, or to get involved, contact the Cayman Islands Red Cross at 949-6785 ext 27 or [email protected]
