The Burns Conolly Group was founded around 17 years ago and has become one of the largest and well-known firms based in the Cayman Islands. The company is well known for its role as local architects for the new town of Camana Bay, being involved with the master planning and design of the buildings to date. The firm has also been responsible for the permitting and government interaction for the town. The company however completes a wide variety of works for a varied client base as well.
Led by Burns Conolly, AIA, who holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture and urban design as well as studies at Cornell University in hotel design and appraisal, the company has the ability to efficiently execute designs for all project types. Mr. Conolly, who has worked in Miami, the British Virgin Islands and Sint Maarten, is a registered architect in Florida and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He is the first fully qualified and registered architect from the Cayman Islands as well as a past president of the Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Conolly has also for the last two years chaired the Planning Law & Regulations Review Committee and spearheaded recent changes to those laws including the creation of Planned Area Developments. These are developments in excess of 40 acres that required complex land planning and design, but allow a great flexibility when placing multiple uses in close proximity.
The supporting architects and interior designers in the firm have extensive knowledge from around the world, having worked in England, Scotland, USA, Africa, Bermuda, Sint Maarten and BVI. The firm boosts one of widest knowledge bases in Cayman having completed a variety of projects from multi-residential, retail, hotels, offices, homes, medical facilities, schools and banks. The firm has also successfully completed many coastal works applications as well as many of the more complex and involved Planning submissions.
The Burns Conolly Group is currently working on a variety of local projects of all size, both in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, as well as a very large shopping mall in Montego Bay. Along with sister company, Studio B, the firms have completed the leading interior designs for retail and Class A offices on the Island.
