Two medical specialists from Johns Hopkins University will give lectures at St. Matthew’s University on Friday night.
Dr. Mary Sheu, assistant professor of dermatology and Dr. Michael Lim, assistant professor of neurosurgery and oncology, will address medical professionals and students.
Dr. Sheu, a board-certified dermatologist, sees patients at the Johns Hopkins Health Care and Surgery Centre in Lutherville, Maryland, USA where she works on skin cancer screening and management. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
She will give a lecture on dermatologic manifestations of internal disease.
Dr. Lim, director of a spine radiosurgery programme, sees patients at the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Centre in Baltimore, Maryland, where he treats brain tumours, arteriovenous malformation (abnormal connection between veins and arteries) and facial nerve disorders.
He will give a presentation on the management of lower back pain.
The lectures are the second in an annual series of continuing medical education lectures for healthcare professionals and medical students in Cayman.
Last year’s lectures focussed on rheumatoid arthritis, image guidance and functional mapping for the removal of brain tumours, and the latest in laparoscopic surgery,
The Cayman Islands Medical and Dental Society is offering CME credits for health professionals who attend the lectures at Hippocrates Hall in Leeward 3 at the university. Refreshments will be served from 6.30am, and the presentations begin at 6pm.
