Mourant Ozannes was named Offshore Law Firm of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2011 on Tuesday 21 June.
It is the third time that the firm has received the award since the offshore category was introduced in 2004 by legal publication The Lawyer.
The award was presented to Mourant Ozannes for demonstrating strategic clarity, technical legal excellence, quality control and growth in market share.
Mourant Ozannes impressed a judging panel of leading UK lawyers, who also received feedback from clients and peers, with its vision ‘to be consistently recognised as the leading law firm offshore’ and the success it has had in striving to achieve its vision over the past year. This includes integrating the business to develop a cohesive one-firm approach across its offices, building an award-winning Cayman Islands practice and becoming the largest law firm in the Channel Islands.
Jonathan Rigby, managing partner of Mourant Ozannes, Robert Shepherd, Guernsey managing partner and Cayman Islands Partner Rob Duggan collected the award at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
“Our vision is to be consistently recognised as the leading law firm offshore, so it is especially pleasing to have won this award for the third time,” Mr. Rigby said.
Cayman Managing Partner Neal Lomax, added: “We are delighted to have received this award which is one of the most coveted in the legal industry. This accolade underscores the industry expertise and strength-in-depth of Mourant Ozannes. We have ambitious plans for the future and the further development of our Cayman Islands office remains a strategic priority of the firm.”
Mourant Ozannes was also named Offshore Law Firm of the Year at the recent Chambers Europe Awards 2011 in Amsterdam.
