Franklin angling for more action

Local fishing should not be short of action in the coming months.

Cayman Islands Angling Club president Franklin Thompson states there are plans for tournaments and visiting film crews.

“We got one more tournament slated for November,” Thompson said. “More details on that are still to come and we urge the public to look out for it on fishcayman.com. We’re also expecting to have a film crew on Island 7-12 November. They will be filming a show to appear on Versus sports channel. The host of that show is George Poveromo.”

Thompson’s comments come after this month’s Family Ties junior angler tournament. In all 33 junior anglers took part with 13 boats registered. Prizes were handed out by Harbour House Marina, Guy Harvey, captain Ron Ebanks, Animal House, Smoothie King, Cayman National Bank and Atlantis Submarine.

Among the competitors was Franklin’s daughter Maddison, 5. The youngsters caught a number of fish in wahoo, yellowfin tuna, tarpon (which were caught and released) and barracuda.
