LIME celebrates launch of 4G mobile network

The launch of LIME’s 4G mobile network was celebrated with a kick-off party at Royal Palms on 3 September. According to LIME, some 3,000 people passed through, with attendees having the opportunity to see demonstrations of mobile devices like the Apple iPad and iPhone, as well as the Blackberry Playbook and the Samsung Galaxy S2, one of the few true 4G phones currently on the market.

The 4G laptop dongle was also a great hit with customers, as the device allows fast Internet access even on the beach.

The 4G network allows 3G and 4G enabled LIME devices to access the Internet at previously unheard of speeds for a mobile device, allowing hitch-free streaming video and fast downloads of songs and apps.

The event was designed as a family fun day and included bouncy castles and water slides for children, as well as watersports, egg and spoon races and other activities. However, the highlight for most of the adults was the opportunity to spin the LIME wheel of fortune. Any purchase at the event entitled attendees to a spin of the wheel, which included a wide range of prizes. The ultimate prize was the opportunity to spend a hectic 30 seconds in the G-Volution cube, where participants had to make a grab for tickets entitling them to cash and other prizes. Several participants walked away with prizes including Apple iPads and Blackberry Playbooks.
