Fashion Solstice lures top celebrities

Guavaberry Marketing, organisers of the Cayman Fashion Solstice 2011, have announced a number of celebrities from the fashion world will be participating in the four day event next month.

Billed by the organisers as the ultimate fashion destination event of the Caribbean, the series of fashion-focused events will take place on the weekend of 20-23 October.

Yendi Phillips, former Miss Jamaica Universe and first runner up of Miss Universe 2010 will be hosting the fashion gala on Saturday, 22 October, alongside co-host Joel Steingold, actor and co-host of Style Network’s hit reality show, Clean House. It has been confirmed the fashion show will take place at the Arts and Recreation Centre at Camana Bay.

International fashion designer Kevan Hall, one of Hollywood’s leading designers, Korto Momolu, a Project Runway star, Jeffrey Williams, winner of a Bravo TV reality show and Cesar Galindo, top New York designer and finalist from the Bravo TV reality show The Fashion Show, will headline the evening.

The event will also feature New York designers Roger Gary, Devon Scott, Johnny Vincent, Claudia Pegus from Trinidad, George Hamilton from Miami and four of the Cayman Islands’ own designers and stores: Kidan Brooks, Gabz and Gabz swim wear, Sand Angels and Jawara Alleyne.

The fashion show is being produced by New York fashion events producer Terry Donovan, president of Signature by Terry Donovan Events. International model Sessilee Lopez, an Italian Vogue cover girl, will join Cayman Islands models on the runway.

Local models are being trained by runway coach Alva Page.

In addition to the fashion gala, which will be the culmination of the event, the Cayman Fashion Solstice 2011 will include a Culture and Style Welcome Pool Party on Thursday, 20 October, at Camana Bay; a Sunset White Fashion Fete on Friday, 21 October 21, at Ristorante Pappagallo; a VIP After Party at Elements Lounge and a beach trip to Rum Point plus a farewell party at Royal Palms on Sunday, 23 October.
