The Veterinary Clinic was opened in November 2008 and operates alongside a popular pet boarding facility that has been in existence since 2006. This combined establishment is conveniently located in the Country Side Shopping Village in Savannah. The business is owned by the Benjamin family and operated by Dr. Alfred Benjamin, a seasoned veterinary surgeon who is the recently retired chief agricultural and veterinary officer for the Cayman Islands

The Veterinary Clinic offers high quality general medicine and surgery, dental care and emergency services, catering to a variety of small animals including dogs, cats and pocket pets. Most pets are seen by appointment; however, walk-ins can also be accommodated. We strive to provide a first-rate experience for our clients and patients from beginning to end and to ensure that the clients’ contact with the clinic and staff will be one that creates loyalty and trust. We seek to encourage good partnerships with our clients that will secure the best health and welfare for their pets.

At the beginning of August the clinic hired a second veterinarian, Dr. Liesl Anne Schmidt, a graduate of Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine, who has also completed an internship at the NYC Veterinary Specialists in New York, USA.

Specialty pet boarding
This part of the facility comes complete with 29 kennels of which some are oversized to accommodate multiple family pets if need be. It is fully air-conditioned and caters also to animals that require special attention. Food is normally provided; however, owners may opt to bring the pet’s own food, toys and favorite small bedding. Dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits and birds are among the pets that the facility can board.

Pets when boarded receive a great amount of socialisation from staff, who care for and play with them. Many animals, when away from home, also feel comforted by the soothing music provided at the kennels throughout the day and night.

Boarders are frequently monitored and if any animal should get sick, while boarding, owners are contacted immediately and decisions are made as to whether the pet is to be transported to its regular doctor or whether in-house medical staff should undertake treatment.

Mission statement
Our mission is to be a cornerstone in the community creating a neighbourhood atmosphere where patients, boarders and clients feel comfortable and well looked after. We aim to provide a passionate and caring service that promotes and secures health and wellness for all pet animals under our care.

We will encourage pride among owners who keep healthy pets. We seek fair and responsible profit that will keep our business financially healthy over the long term and to fairly compensate pet owners for their money, staff for their hard work and diligence and investors for their risk.

Our keys to success will lie in the following beliefs that:

  • We will treat our patients as if they were our own pets and seek to offer customers the service that they desire and deserve.
  • We will take an individualised approach to the long-term care of each of our patients and are dedicated to providing our clients with enough information to make appropriate decisions concerning the health care and wellness of their animal companions.
