CUC swim will be electric again

The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association is holding the 23rd annual CUC 800 Metre Sea Swim on Saturday, 5 November. This is a re-arranged swim from a couple of weeks ago when turbulent weather forced postponement. CUC chief executive officer Richard Hew will be swimming as usual, along with member s of his family.

It starts at Governor’s Beach and ends at Public Beach. Registration is from 3pm to 3.45pm with the race starting at 4pm. Both competitive and non–competitive swimmers will find the race an enjoyable excuse to enjoy a leisurely swim in what is one of the calendar’s most popular events.

The island’s top resident swimmer – Geoffrey Butler – hopes to defend his title but will have to contend with fellow competitors, younger brother Simon and Alex McCallum. Danielle Boothe, Coral Tomascik and Lois Moody are likely to be the fastest females.

Trophies will be awarded for the top three male and female finishers in all age categories.

Regardless of finishing position, every swimmer will get a T-shirt, refreshments and pizza at the end of the race.
