An interesting double-header will soon be the highlight of Cayman Islands netball.
The netball courts at Truman Bodden Sports Complex hosts action on Saturday, 28 January. At 6.30pm Unity B takes on newcomers Flames Strikers while Roma B takes on All Stars A.
Unity team manager Faye Green spoke about her team’s attitude heading into the clash.
“Marcia Smith, Anna-Lee Godfrey and Eileen Wilson are among our established names,” Greene said. “We have new players like Scimone Williams and Tamara Patters.
“It’s the first time Flames will play and we don’t know who is who. We’ve never mingled with them to know their strengths. We can’t go out there lightly to say we’ll beat them. We have to go for something and put up a fight. We have to buckle up with good strength and go for them.
“David Wilson, Milton Clarke and Wayne Fine are the coaches and they will be there on Saturday. I’m actually going to play for the B team and I love to play.”
The other contest offers loads of intrigue as Roma are still piecing their side together while All Stars were dominant in their season opener. Kristie Hurlston should have much of the spotlight for the reigning B division champions while All Stars can counter with two of the sport’s best scorers in Pauline Bodden and Stacy Reid-Satahoo.
