Swanky International ramps up the excitement

Soca heroes Swanky International are behind a series of events designed to take the concept of carnival that step further.

First up, on Saturday, 28 April, is Limin By The Tree, which is hosted by The Mango Tree. Craig Fredericks of Swanky says it’s a ‘journey back in time’.

“We will be reminiscing about the glory days of soca and playing nothing but old skool, people like Tiny Winey, the Big Truck, Dollar Wine in the company of two legendary soca DJs DJ Ralph and DJ Alic.

“This is going to be an awesome event, specially for the grown folks and what we might call experienced soca lovers.”
The event is in conjunction with Vibe FM, costs $10 and begins at 8pm through to midnight.

“It’s a casual get together – come in sneakers ready to dance all night. This is a jump up party,” Craig advises.

Get on the boat

A second pre-Batabano event runs on Thursday, 3 May, our mate tells us.

“It’s the Swanky SOS Boat Cruise on the Happy Hour party boat,” Craig reveals.

“It leaves from Hammerheads at 8.30pm and is all about getting people in the mood; there will be more than the regular dose of soca and international DJs.

This is going to be an absolutely awesome event.

“When we come back to Hammerheads there will be a free party with All Nations a new band and a new entity for carnival.”

The party runs in conjunction with iconic clothing/design label One Tree Four Five and is open to all people, whether jumping with Swanky or one of the numerous other bands set for Cayman Carnival Batabano, presented by LIME.

“It’s all about coming together, no matter which band or clique you gonna be with. The event is free and there will be drinks specials of course.

“The theme is U.N.I.T.Y. and it’s another way we are creating a whole weekend of carnival activities around the parade itself.”
The SOS Boat Cruise costs $10 and has a cash bar, adds Craig.

And still to come…
