Daigle clinches grapplers

Expert fighters will soon be enhancing Cayman’s mixed martial arts scene.

Las Vegas residents Derek Weaver and Danny Davis Jr will be on Grand Cayman on Saturday, 23 June. They will be teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing to residents at The D.Dalmain Ebanks Boxing Gym.

Weaver is a North American grappling champion and will teaching the Jiu Jitsu segment while Davis Jr. is a three-time national amateur kickboxing champion and will focus on the Muay Thai.

Bob Daigle of Cayman Kickboxing Academy is the event organizer and states all are welcome to attend.

“No experience is necessary to participate in these seminars,” Daigle said. “If you have ever thought about getting involved in martial arts, this is a great way to start. Danny will be teaching the participants the proper way to execute kicks, punches, knees and elbows.

“Also students will learn winning fighting combinations, defence and conditioning exercises. Kickboxing workouts burn between 800 and 1200 calories in one hour. It’s a great way to get in shape, relieve stress and develop self-confidence.”
