The monthly Music and Art Showcase returns to Camana Bay this Saturday, 8 September.
Conceived by Eden Hurlston of Oneworld, the regular event brings together, musicians, artists and local charitable organisations for a relaxed evening of free, outdoor entertainment on the Crescent at Camana Bay in Grand Cayman.
This month’s live music performances will feature three different bands and individuals, kicking off at 6pm with Hi Tide – a special treat given that they are rarely available on a Saturday evening.
“Hi Tide is one of Cayman’s most experienced bands with four original albums. They inspire everyone with their pursuit of perfection in music,” enthuses Eden.
Next up, Cory Allenger, a young and talented singer songwriter will be performing at 7pm, accompanied by Kate Allenger on violin.
“Cory is Shane’s (from Hi Tide) son, so it’s nice to see that amazing musical talent carrying on in the family,” Eden adds.
The Little Magic Trio round off the evening at 8pm with their soulful acoustic fusion, that touches on every genre under the sun.
As always, the Musicians Showcase is about more than just music, and members of the Visual Arts Society will also be displaying and selling some of their work, with a portion of the proceeds going toward this month’s chosen charity.
The featured charity of the month is Save Our Youth, a youth empowerment organisation committed to improving the lives of troubled youths. Their stated mission is to enhance the character, honesty and integrity of young people in all aspects of life. The organisation runs various programmes and events for young people including the Achievement Medallion Award Programme, which acknowledges students who have made outstanding efforts for which they would not normally be singled out. Those wanting to get involved with the organisation will be able to find out more at the event.
“We are looking forward to being able to inform the public about our programmes and publicise our gospel concert fundraiser taking place Saturday, 29 September at the Lions Centre. We would also like to thank the Visual Arts Society for donating a part of their proceeds from the showcase to SOY,” said Iris Stoner, president of the foundation.
