Finding the time and energy to prepare a meal is a constant challenge for some. This is particularly true for mums with young children who are rushed off their feet from the moment they wake up.
Because they recognise that being a mother is a tough job, Bon Vivant is running Mommy Cooking Classes to teach ladies how to make quick, easy and delicious meals in nearly no time. The classes take place on Fridays at 11am and follow a different theme each week.
Today, 5 October, the classes will focus on grilling – either on the stove top or the barbecue.
Next week, on 12 October, it’s Pasta 101, where you’ll learn to use healthy ingredients to make tasty dishes.
For $35, ladies will get the recipes, food and a cocktail – what better way to kick start the weekend?
The classes are led by Maureen Cubbon, wellness coordinator at Fitness Connection, who has teamed up with Bon Vivant to teach both mums and children how to cook healthy food.
Maureen was a finalist in the Cayman Cookout competition last year and leads healthy cooking classes for corporate clients.
She was also the co-host for the Quick & Easy Cooking Show on Daybreak for two years, and is an active member of the Slow Food Group in Cayman. She coached the Youth Services Culinary Team for the 25th annual Agriculture Show in 2012 and helped create and implement Project Grow, a school garden project for the Cayman Islands in 2011.
Maureen believes that everyone should know where their food comes from and enjoy being part of the growing and cooking process.
