Government TV hits the air

The new government television channel launched on Monday, but technical problems meant it was unable to broadcast live coverage of the Legislative Assembly.

Throughout Monday morning and afternoon, CIGTV20 aired test signals on the WestStar cable system and in the evening a pre-recorded programme featuring a statement by Cayman Islands Premier McKeeva Bush about the Framework for Fiscal Responsibility and the cruise ship port facility.

Charles Glidden, press secretary for Mr. Bush, said there was a technical problem with the remote connection to the cameras in the Legislative Assembly. He said engineers were working to resolve the problem in time for the session on Wednesday.
