Everyone is invited to embrace the spirit of the holiday season and take part in the 2nd Annual Camana Bay Christmas Give.
A community initiative, the Camana Bay Christmas Give provides a number of opportunities for the public to play a part in helping local charities and organisations give every person – and animal – in the Cayman Islands a wonderful Christmas.
“As a popular destination for Grand Cayman’s residents and visitors to gather for holiday festivities, we saw a great opportunity to foster a spirit of giving among the local community,” explains Ken Hydes, VP Place
Management & Experiences at Camana Bay. “There are many families in the Cayman Islands who are struggling to make ends meet, let alone give their children a memorable Christmas, and the Christmas Give makes it easy for everyone to lend their support to worthy local charities and organisations over the busy holiday period – and make a positive impact on those in need at this special time of year.”
From a bag of groceries for families who deserve something a little bit extra and a gift sure to restore a child’s faith in Santa to a $1 donation that will provide a nourishing meal to a local schoolchild and the donation of leftover change that will go towards something much, much bigger – it’s easy to get involved in the Camana Bay Christmas Give.
Pick up a Cayman’s ARK shopping bag – and shopping list – from The Discovery Centre and bring it back full of goodies. Throughout the holidays, The Discovery Centre in Camana Bay’s Town Centre will act as a drop off point for donations for the organisations’ Giving is
Receiving project, which provides food and gifts for hundreds of families who are struggling in Cayman.
Purchase a gift for a girl or boy ages 11 to 17. Select a gift to purchase from the Camana Bay Wish Tree, located in The Discovery Centre. The Wish Tree is decorated with suggested gift ideas that the public can purchase for children identified by The CAYS Foundation and Children & Family Services.
Provide a nourishing meal to schoolchildren in need. Purchase a special North Pole Stamp for CI$1 from Mail Boxes Etc. and drop your Santa Letter into their bright red mailbox. All monies raised from the sale of the stamps will benefit Feed Our Future.
Donate money. Collection boxes can be found in all Camana Bay merchants. Donations will be split between participating charities and organisations to ensure that your money gets to the people who need it most.
Spread the word. And help local charities and organisations continue their remarkable efforts throughout the holiday season and beyond.
In addition to the above activities Camana Bay is lending support to Meals on Wheels, NCVO, Lion’s Club of Tropical Gardens, Sunrise Adult Training Centre, Maple House, Cayman Islands Humane Society, Cayman Islands Cancer Society and Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.
“Each year, the Camana Bay Christmas Give grows as it touches so many in the local community,” adds Mr. Hydes. “Now in its second year, we cannot wait to see what 2012 will bring. However you choose to support the Christmas Give, it will be sure to make a big difference to people in our community.”
So be helpful, be giving, be caring and bring hope for the holidays to the people who need it most.
