The Cayman Islands Angling Club recently held its annual All Tackle fishing tournament.
The two-day tournament saw registration at Sunset House with the sponsors being the angling club, Tomlinson Furniture, Animal House, Kirk Freeport, A.L. Thompson’s Home Depot, the Barcadere Marina and Kirk Marine. Tournament prizes exceeded $12,000.
Eligible species for the tournament were wahoo, yellowfin tuna, dolphin and blue marlin. A total of 16 boats registered to compete in the tournament. During the two days of fishing, anglers weighed in three dolphin, 17 tunas and 30 wahoo.
Azzan Sherieff weighed in the third heaviest dolphin at 17 pounds caught aboard Lady Luck 2. For this catch, Azzan earned $500 sponsored by A.L. Thompson’s Home Depot. The second heaviest dolphin weighed 20.3lbs and was caught onboard Blue Diamond by Drake Hepp, earning Drake and team $1,000 sponsored by the angling club.
The heaviest dolphin was caught aboard Lady Luck 2 by Azzan and weighed 24lbs, earning $2,000 sponsored by the angling club plus a watch sponsored by Kirk Freeport.
Leon Dilbert had the third heaviest tuna, weighing 33.2lbs, caught aboard Domino Effect. For this catch, Leon earned $500 sponsored by the angling club. The second heaviest tuna weighed 32.5lbs and was caught onboard Sea Bird by Jason Begg-Smith, earning Jason and team $1,000 sponsored by Animal House.
The heaviest tuna was caught aboard Domino Effect by Albert McLean and weighed 34.9lbs, earning $2,000 sponsored by the angling club plus a Kirk Freeport watch.
Charles Ebanks had the third heaviest wahoo, weighing 40lbs, aboard Naut Wukin to earn $500 from the angling club. The second heaviest wahoo weighed 40.3lbs and was caught onboard Real Crazy 2 by Eric Mildenberger, earning Eric and team $1,000 sponsored by Tomlinson Furniture.
The heaviest wahoo was caught aboard Sea Bird by Kevin Wall and weighed 40.7lbs, earning $2,000 sponsored by the angling club plus a watch sponsored by Kirk Freeport.
John ‘Jojo’ Sperando was awarded a rod and reel combo sponsored by Kirk Marine for the heaviest catch by a junior angler. Sperandeo weighed a 25.1lb wahoo. Shelly Ware had the heaviest fish caught by a lady angler, a wahoo weighing 37.2lbs, to earn $250 from the angling club.
Charles Ebanks was awarded $500 worth of fuel, sponsored by the Barcadere Marina, for weighing in the heaviest fish caught by an angling club member.
The All Tackle tournament was the last competition for the 2012 calendar. The 2013 tournament series starts with the Barcadere Classic on 9-10 February.
