Hannah’s Honeycomb is so sweet

Cayman Riding School, located on Hirst Road in Savannah, Newlands, recently hosted its third annual Christmas Horse Show.

With a record number of entries, the show organizers had considered spreading the show over two days. Hannah Fowler, riding Honeycomb, took first place in two classes, along with a fifth place ribbon, made her the overall show champion for 2012.

Amara Thompson was reserve show champion riding Rumor Has It. The one metre jumping class proved very exciting with some very fast and excellent riding skills demonstrated in the jump off.

Alex Rado, riding Larkin, went first and finished with the fastest time but had one jump down giving her four faults. Michelle Boucher managed to ride a clear on Katrina, putting her into first place and Amara Thompson on Rumor Has it had the 
last jump down and took third place.

The full results show Meegan Slattery on Max winning the Best Turned Out Horse and Rider class, with George Austin on Crazy Daisy in second and Amara Thompson third on Rumor Has It. Fourth went to Chloe Fowler riding Shirley Temple, fifth went to Hannah Fowler riding Honeycomb and sixth went to Kyra Slattery 
riding Diamond.

In the Intermediate Handy Pony division, first went to Mya Heiss riding Bandy, ahead of Kristina Wolfe on Beanie and Meegan Slattery on Max. Fourth went to Chloe Fowler riding Shirley Temple, fifth was Hannah Fowler riding Honeycomb and sixth was Kyra Slattery riding Diamond.

The Advanced Handy Pony category saw Hannah Fowler riding Honeycomb in first, Amara Thompson riding Rumor Has It in second and Eva Muspratt riding Max in third. Fourth went to Gayle Taylor riding Harry, fifth went to Chloe Fowler riding Shirley Temple and sixth was George Austin riding Crazy Daisy.

There were 18 entries in the beginners cross pole jumping with 13 riders jumping a clear round and receiving a special rosette and six riders in the 2ft 6in jumping class.

Cayman Riding School is only four-years-old and is affiliated to the British Pony Club in the UK. As the only riding school on the Island with fully qualified British Horse Society instructors, the riding school offers instruction and training for children from the age of five.

The after school program starts at three o’clock each day and instruction is offered for adults in the mornings. For further details, call 926-7669
