Mark your calendars for Saturday, 2 February at 7pm to join Acts of Random Kindness, better known as ARK, at its annual Moving Art for ARK fundraiser. Local artists will be showcasing more than 20 original artworks for the event, and 30 per cent of the sales will benefit the organisation.
Artists Avril Ward, Sue Howe and Renate Seffer approached ARK two years ago with the idea for a fundraiser. They agreed to provide an art show in a private house and would donate a certain percentage to the charity. ARK volunteers would help organise the evening and sell entrance tickets, therefore raising even more money; an opportunity not to be missed. The first Moving Art for ARK event was in October 2011 and was such a success that everyone agreed it should be repeated in the future.
The event is being held at a private residence in Crystal Harbour. There will be live music throughout the evening, starting with a cellist as the guests arrive, giving them the opportunity to peruse the art and make their purchases while sipping cocktails donated by Hendricks.
Music will then be provided by the jazz quintet Kool Skool, followed by the incredible 17-piece band, the Cayman Swing Kings. Anyone who attended the last fundraiser will remember these musicians and how amazing they were.
Substantial canapes donated by Genesis Trust will be served and there will be a cash bar for beer and wine, soft drinks are free. The artists are each providing a piece of art, which will be auctioned. The auctioneer is well-known local personality James Bebarfeld, who always keeps the crowd entertained with his easy humour. The night concludes with a DJ and dancing.
Tickets are only $100 for a wonderful evening out, and if that wasn’t enough, there will be a 20 per cent discount on all the art sold that night.
This is one of ARK’s biggest fundraisers of the year and they are really hoping to refill the bank account for the start of the year. All money raised will go into ARK’s general fund for their projects.
