The Cayman Islands Triathlon Association has donated $1,500 to the Cayman Islands Little League Association.
A cheque presentation was done recently and on hand for the donation was Jefferson Pouchie, president of the Little League Association, as well as Margot MacInnis, managing Director of KRyS Global in the Cayman Islands, and Paul Schreiner, race director for the Cayman Islands Triathlon.
The triathlon included nearly 175 participants, while more than 160 people conquered either the sprint or Olympic distance for the three-sport event.
MacInnis said, “KRyS Global is delighted to have been one of the key sponsors of the 2012 Cayman Islands Triathlon. The firm is a strong supporter of this event and other programmes, such as the Cayman Islands Little League, that promote health and fitness for children.”
Schreiner added, “This year’s race was a fantastic event. The triathlon association and its race sponsors are very pleased to be supporting the Little League Association. One of the primary goals of the triathlon association is to support healthy lifestyles through sports.
“The Little League gives the islands’ youths a great chance to build a life of healthy active living,” he said. “We hope that we see some of the participants in our triathlon races in the future.”
The triathlon association offers many races throughout the calendar year. The inaugural Mercury Man half-iron distance race was held on 20 January and the next race is on 24 March. That event will be a duathlon, which features a two-mile run, followed by a 12-mile bike race and then another two-mile run.
Participants can take on the event solo or as a part of a two- or three-person team. More information can be found at triathlon.ky.
